Born in Morocco as the middle of eleven children, Isaac learned a great deal about the fashion business from his father, an expert tailor/menswear designer. As a small boy, he would spend hours in his father’s atelier watching him apply his craft. Isaac describes his father as a “perfectionist” - a trait passed on to him.

“I learned from my father how to recognize quality work. I also learned to love and respect the art of creating beautiful things. ”

Not short after leaving Morocco at the age of 13, Isaac went to architectural school in Toulouse, France. He began working at Stephane Kélian selling designer shoes and handbags to support his life and education. It was at this moment that Isaac was introduced to leather and its beauty.

“Something about leather goods inspired me. I love the touch of leather and the structure of the final product. Perhaps it is the combination of something so soft and natural that also has a form, a structure. I love leather because it can sense that you love it. When you work with it, it will take the form you want to give it. It responds to the designer and ultimately to the customer.”

After receiving his architectural degree, Isaac continued to work for Stephane Kélian throughout the mid ‘80s and early ‘90s throughout various locations across the United States.

Maison IC was first born in 1985 as Isaac began designing and hand making his own collection to sell in the boutiques. In 1990, Maison IC was trademarked and became Isaac’s focus. As life happens, we explore different paths, build a family and change direction.

Presently, confined with the warmth of family and re-inspired by his daughter, Isaac reestablished Maison IC, officially. Isaac’s goal is to revive Maison IC to return to the basics of true, high-quality leather craftsmanship, and to teach his children (and hopefully many others) the art of bespoke craftsmanship by passing down the passion, just as his father did for him.

“ I love leather because it can sense that you love it. When you work with it, it will take the form you want to give it. It responds to the designer and ultimately to the customer. ”
